Standard Notes

  • The Blackout suite of tools includes Standard Notes. It is a free, open-source, and completely encrypted notes app.

  • Hosting our own Standard Notes instance is another way we are securing our data against loss and grants us a greater level of control.

Creating account and importing data.#

  1. If you are already using Standard Notes to manage your notes, export your notes to a file using the web interface or the desktop or mobile application.

  1. Open Standard Notes via the desktop or mobile application and log out if you are already using Standard Notes.

  2. Click the "Advanced Options" button and enter https://notes.blackout.tools in the URL box.

  3. Select Create Account, enter your e-mail address, and create a password.

  4. Import your notes into your newly created Blackout Standard Notes account.
